Established in 1764, and has designed works for Louis XV, Emperor Napoleon III and czar Nicholas II. Baccarat has continued to renew itself by embracing modern design, working with artists like Philippe Starck on the Baccarat House in Paris. They seek to "perpetuate the great French tradition of a cosmopolitan art of living" by seeding a new classicism in the fields of young designers. ROLLOUT considers this commission to be a crystal feather in our cap.
Baccarat wanted a custom paper that combined the Baccarat B logo with The Harcourt Goblet, an iconic piece of the company's world famous crystal. An emblem of the brand, The Harcourt Goblet was first manufactured by Baccarat in 1841 and is still made today. Baccarat wanted a monochromatic design in colour and value so that it would read like a gray wall from faraway. Designers Anita Modha and Jonathan Nodrick used the Baccarat B's, adding a glittering effect and keeping the thin lines of the original, to create an organic trellis like effect.
